A planned lake community
Lake Saint Louis was a private development before it was a city, and that still shapes how yard projects work here. R.T. Crow and five investors started it in 1966. The Declaration of Covenants and Restrictions was recorded in June 1967, and dam work for the 600-acre main lake began in December 1968. Until Harbor Town incorporated in 1975 (renamed Lake Saint Louis in 1977), the community association was the only governing body. The city had 2,445 residents in 1976 and 16,707 in 2020.
Both lakes, the main lake and the 85-acre Lake Ste. Louise, are private and owned by members of the Lake Saint Louis Community Association.
Start with the association
In Lake Saint Louis, check with the community association before you set an install date. The covenants predate the city itself, so deed restrictions may apply to your lot. We measure and quote first. If your project needs review, you submit the layout with our spec sheet and a sample, and we put the job on the schedule once it’s approved.
Lakefront lots
Waterfront yards are where turf gets the most scrutiny, from neighbors on the water and from the association. They’re also where it pays off. The yard in our photo runs a putting green and lawn down toward the dock, which is a common way to use a lakefront slope.
On these lots we pay close attention to grade. Water should move through the turf and base and leave the yard the same way it did before, not carry loose soil toward the lake. A turf lawn also needs no fertilizer, which keeps nitrogen and phosphorus off the slope that drains to the water.
Water and sewer
Lake Saint Louis is served by Public Water Supply District No. 2 of St. Charles County. The district formed in 1967 and began serving the area in January 1974, after buying two existing water systems here, starting with 726 customers. Sewer service depends on the address: the city lists the water district, the City of Wentzville and Duckett Creek Sewer District as providers. A turf lawn cuts the outdoor portion of that water bill to near zero.
Close to our crew
Our St. Louis location is in neighboring O’Fallon, about 5 miles from Lake Saint Louis. That keeps site visits, installs and any follow-up quick.
