How we build indoor turf projects
Why Brevard teams move training indoors
Weather is the biggest schedule risk for outdoor practice here. Melbourne averages about 51 inches of rain a year, mostly from afternoon thunderstorms, with June, August and September the wettest months. The City of Melbourne calls Florida the country’s lightning capital and warns that lightning can strike up to 10 miles from the rain. Average highs sit near 90°F in July and August. An indoor floor lets lessons, team practices and camps run on the days fields close.
A busy baseball and softball market
Brevard is home to USSSA’s national headquarters. The USSSA Space Coast Complex in Viera, owned by Brevard County and run by USSSA, hosts youth baseball and softball tournaments on its diamonds. Teams and players preparing for that level of play need cage time, throwing lanes and space for speed and agility work close to home.
We build the whole space
We handle the full interior, not just the floor. That means the turf, the walls, the netting and the batting cages, planned and installed as one project. Walls are pro walls (hockey-style dasher boards) or padded walls, whichever the space needs. When separate trades each handle a piece, cage spacing, lane widths and wall coverage rarely line up. With one team, the layout works for hitting, pitching and running from the first drawing, and you manage one schedule and one price.
Spaces we build include batting cage buildings, private hitting and pitching facilities, team training gyms, speed and agility studios and multi-use rooms in warehouse or flex units.
The floor: Legacy Speed
Legacy Speed is our indoor turf. It has a 3/4-inch slit-film blade on a 5mm foam pad, needs no infill, and carries a 48 oz face that holds up to sprints, sled pushes, drills and cage work. With no rubber pellets, nothing gets kicked into the cage or tracked through the building. It is Made in U.S.A., lead and PFAS free, and carries a 10-year warranty.

Questions
Before you get a quote
Do you only install the turf?
No. We handle the entire build: turf, pro walls (hockey-style dasher boards) or padded walls, netting and batting cages, planned together so the layout and ball containment work as one space. It is a specialty for our team.
Which turf goes on an indoor floor?
Legacy Speed: a 3/4-inch slit-film blade on a 5mm foam pad with no infill and a 48 oz face, so there are no rubber pellets to sweep up. It carries a 10-year warranty.
Why build indoors in Brevard?
Summer brings frequent afternoon thunderstorms, and the City of Melbourne advises that anyone who can hear thunder is within striking distance and should get inside a building. An indoor space keeps lessons and team sessions running on stormy afternoons.
How do you price a facility build?
We walk the building, measure the floor and wall areas, talk through cages and lanes, and give you a written price for the full scope at no charge.
